A Blatantly Racist Tea Party Politician

Posted: April 29, 2011 in Homophobia, Racism, Tea Party

We’ve had a lot of fun here since the Tea Party has turned out to be the joke that writes itself. Sometimes though we wince more than we laugh, and this is one of those times.

Oklahoma state Rep. Sally Kern, a Republican, has abandoned the oblique racist references that serve as dog whistles to the Tea Party / GOP base and has come right out and laid her racism bare:

“We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I’ve taught school, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them.” – Sally Kern

That’s right Sally, it’s because they’re lazy that blacks end up in prison or on the dole.

When and where did this bigoted Tea Bagger make this stunning proclaimation? In a private email to other Tea Baggers? Nope. On the floor of the Oklahoma House of Representatives in middle of the arguing for a constitutional amendment seeking to ban affirmative action programs in the state! I am not making that up.  Sally Kern’s racist rant is now immortalized in Oklahoma’s congressional record. More mainstream (meaning sane) Republicans have been wisely distancing themselves from Kern for at least two years now. To date none of her constituents in her district have called for her to step down, meaning to a large degree they support her in what she said. Racists voting in racists, it appears.

This is not the first controversy this racist douchenozzle has raised. Sally Kern is a committed theocrat who believes God told her to run for office and her bigotry extends beyond blacks to gays and non-Christians. Kern publicly and proudly blames the nation’s current economic and other problems on gays, abortion, divorce, and all around lack of Christian faith. In 2008 this asshat claimed that homosexuality is more dangerous to America than “terrorism or Islam.” Amazing.

How many more Tea Bagger bogey men, and hate, can a  racist Tea Party pinhead fit into one idea? Judging by recent events, Sally Kern is determined to find out.

  1. Chopper Jones says:

The best thing to happen to the GOP is Trump, oh, and the Birther Conspiracy, might as well mention Sally Kern, Palin, Bachmann, and the Tea Baggers / Right Wing Loonies too…

With that line up the GOP is bound for a land slide victory in the 2012 National Elections!

  2. Chopper Jones says:

The GOP’s Right Wing Loonies & Tea Baggers hate Romney almost as much as they hate President Obama…

  3. Basharr says:

How bout that Pelosi and her rantings on how the GOP want to poison the your food. Huh, not the first little gem like that to spew out of her mouth. Or how about the lying Biden who labeled the tea party terrorists and then denied he said it? I mean come on if people disagree with Obama’s policies they are labeled racists. I mean you can’t just condemn the people you don’t like and give a pass to others doing basically the same thing can you? I am asking, do you condone hate speech? Well Chopper? You have a problem with people who want America to remain strong and keep this country a great place to live? Or are you looking for your socialist utopia? Fact, the Communist Party has endorsed Obamas reelection campaign. Any American seeking to be President of this nation would not accept that endorsement as it goes against the very way of life we live here in America. So chew on that awhile and tell me what you think.

  4. latftp says:

I think you know nothing about Nancy Pelosi and the issues at hand, Basharr, that’s what I think. When the Tea Party driven GOP tries to emasculate the FDA and EPA as they have been, poisoned food is a genuine risk. Just ask the people who ate salmonella tainted turkey last week.

    • World says:

You have given no argument as to why you think he knows nothing about Pelosi. The only reason you say that is because he does not share the same beliefs as you and isn’t apart of your political party (as far as you think you can tell based on nothing more than what he wrote). However, if I were to use your logic, then I could as just as easily say that i think you do not know what you are talking about as far as the tea party and “the issues at hand” goes, based on nothing more then what I have read from your bigotry filled posts. You assume that everything wrong in the world is the fault of the tea party and anyone that thinks like them. With that perception of reality, you are no better than what you perceive the tea party to be ( I say perceive because most people on either side of the aisle are decent people), who, according to you, are a group of people that spew hate and blame Democrats for everything wrong in the world.
Ps. If you think that tea party is somehow the home of all nuts, have you ever wondered what political affiliation most (if not all) of the school shooters and their families were? I’ll give you a hint, it isn’t the right.
Ps. #2. My mentioning of that was to put this into perspective. As we well understand, most people on the left will not be like those shooters. Similarly, most people on the right will not be racist, hate filled people. Most people in the world are decent people, regardless of political affiliation. Just because everyone has a different understanding of how to solve the world’s problems doesn’t mean we all can’t see eye to eye.
Though I am usually skeptical of what most people write, I thank you for reminding us all that both sides are human and can depart from the ideals that they wish to convey to the world.
